Origins of the Magazine Lineage

Between 1915 and 1940, three magazines with related names were published in succession: Sufi, Sufism, and Sufi Quarterly.

Contributions in the form of articles, reports, poems, and the like came from writers both within and outside the movement. A list of their names, supplemented where possible with biographical information, can be found in the PDF file: "Contributors to the Sufi Quarterly", compiled by Paul Ketelaar.

Sufi (1915-1920) and Sufism (1921-1924) have recently been scanned, edited, and published in full by the Nekbakht Foundation (Alba Publishing 2020).

The aforementioned magazines were intended for a general readership. The magazine 'The Sufi Record' (1925-1936) was an internal newsletter intended for members of the Sufi Movement. This collection has also been published by the Nekbakht Foundation (Alba Publishing 2022).
